September 4, 2023 - Had next to the ‘06 and this ‘05 had a better balance and ready to drink feel than the ‘06.

November 12, 2022 - Excellent effort deep purple core. Voluptuous fruit and texture. Black currant and plum but definitely mountain fruit as it had an eucalyptus streak among with mocha. Silky on the palate. Very much a start and a great effort from Steve Sherwin. Much more gas in the tank. Easily will be 30-40 year wine. Highly recommended.

June 29, 2020 - made in the "big" style of CA 'mountain fruit' cabernet, but not totally overdone (tho not my style per se)... well made and tasty, big dark red and black fruit, potent (and was better after 3-4 hour decant, and even better on night two)... good acidity to balance the punch, only slight complaint was that the wine was a bit hot, looked at the bottle and at least they were honest -- 15.1% alcohol... prefer them more elegant (e.g. 20-30 year old R. Mondavi Reserve etc)... but nonetheless very well made for its style... I do love Spring Mtn for sure (btw -- if you can, try the Spring Mtn. Vineyards cab from 1978... epic!!)

June 20, 2020 - Amazing that this wine is 15 years out from vintage. When our neighborhood cru visited Sherwin in 2009, everyone thought this was by far the best wine we tasted over three very full days of Napa tasting. I recall now why: the top of Spring Mountain braces this, but the rich, red fruit favors are so strong, forward, and quite simply, yummy. I'm glad we have a magnum left in our cellar. Of course, it's one of the "Amercan Flag bottles" in a beautiful case, so I don't know if I will ever open it. At least not until some truly special occasion.
