January 27, 2015 - It seems that there is some bottle variation...as this bottle was very nice, but not the equal of the previous bottle. A powerful Red Mountain wine, with beautiful aromatics and delightful substance.

September 16, 2013 - Slightly cloudy garnet. Aromas of blueberry syrup, soy sauce, anise, smoke, and blackberry. Delicious and spicy with great acidity.

May 29, 2013 - An absolutely spectacular wine. The tannins have mellowed, the fruit is still there in abundance but is balanced, not over-the-top fruit forward. The nose was pure in its fruit scents, not the least bit muddled, with a distinct freshness. On the palate, it filled the mouth with blackberry and other dark fruit flavors, with an undertone of earthiness. The finish was long, long, long.

January 5, 2013 - There may be some bottle variation with this wine. That being said, this bottle was mind-bending. I spent three days with it, the same three I spent with a 2008 Powers Champoux Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This particular bottle of the 'Pure Blood Beast' was noticably better. This wine was best on the third day; it was very tight on the first, and great on the second. The 'Beast' features outstanding structure, beautiful balanance, pure tannins and lovely Red Mountain terroir. I have had two bottles of this previously, and downed them far too quickly, a regrettable waste. Give this lots of air before drinking. It should age wonderfully for 5 or more years. Overall, an excellent experience in allowing a fine wine to breathe, and thereby come to life.

October 20, 2012 - Served at a dinner party and it was declared a favorite. I only got one taste and it was definitely a beautiful cab with lots of complexity and could still use some bottle time to soften the edges. Great food wine.
