January 12, 2024 - Opened at Caprice in HK for the Jean Trimbach x Egon Muller Celebration Dinner by the winemakers themselves. Slow-oxed since 3pm and poured at around 10pm.
Served alongside the SHB Spätlese '09. The Cellartracker reviews surprise me somewhat - at least tonight, the '07 was on fire, and decidedly better than the '09.
Prime Egon Spätlese, and probably the best I've ever had. Everything was in perfect harmony and just more intense than the '09 coming before it. Exactly what you seek in a wine like this.
Will probably continue to age gracefully, but if you like your sweet Rieslings still fresh and floral then this is in a perfect spot right now. Enjoy! I will definitely seek this out again. -

July 23, 2023 - Egon Müller crafted a wonderfully light and elegant Spätlese in a vintage I otherwise consider mediocre at best. Very subtle and delicate, with excellent balance, not too overt and expressive, this is a more restrained expression of vintage. Pear, herbs and lime followed by apple, spiced peach, kumquat, orange, elderflower, mineral water and raspberry fruit tea. Rather lean with well integrated sweetness. Now-2040+

October 31, 2020 - Blind. Some petro, minerals; powerful and spicy, moderate acid, yellow apples. When revealed, not the airyness that I am used to from other vintages.

July 27, 2019 - Gesellschaft zur Förderung des restsüssen Riesling: 1. Session (Blankendorsel): No formal notes taken. One 0,75 and one 375ml bottle. Full bottle was very advanced and broad/chubby. Not very exciting. Half bottle was a bit more fresh, but still miles away from what i expect from a Scharzhof Spätlese. Quite disappointing, although on a very high level... 89-90
