October 15, 2021 - Still quite deep ruby. Essence of a fairly severe Pinot. More like liquid earth or undergrowth than fruit. Though there are some dark red fruits in the background. A blast of incense. Great balance and some finesse. Good length, plenty acidity. For me this is just a very classic style of Burgundy. But not for voluptuous fruit lovers!

September 19, 2021 - I bought a case of this wine on release. The first six bottles were more than a bit of a slog. I put the rest aside, hoping that someday they would at least be pleasant to drink instead on an exercise is masochism. Tonight I opened bottle seven of twelve, and found what I had been looking for the last fifteen years. From the first sip after opening it was a different wine. Graceful, elegant aromatics of rose petal, loamy earth and dried red fruits preview a softening (but not yet soft) palate that dances across the palate in elegant but spiked heels. The wine is ready to draw you in, but still asking for even more time. After years of lingering regret of a case purchase I am finally happy, and well, that’s Burgundy!

    November 4, 2020 - 2/2, very good cork.
Medium/deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose is lightly smoky, bilberries, touch of soil. Showing some richness and sweetness. Medium bodied, leanish on the palate, more red-toned fruit than on the nose, spice, touch of meat, some firmish tannins poking through a bit, fresh acidity, medium length lightly savoury finish. Pretty decent for the level, drinking well still though difficult to see it improving from here.

    June 5, 2019 - Tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
    -crimson no bricking
-mild reduction faint sousbois tar and plum give it a dark and brooding personality; more plum and faint wood on day 2
-med/med- acidity, med weight densely concentrated rich dark fruit fading into some faint caramelized mature elements and residual med tannins; acidity more prominent and more lively on day 2 along with the emergence of a little oak on the finish
-stout and firmly on mature plateau though there is quite a bit of stuffing to suggest this will last a while longer

(Bachelet Denis Côte de Nuits Villages) From 1952 vines. Medium, medium-plus colour. Pure and focused red fruit - it’s a fine nose. Soft and silky, perhaps less ripe than some - the tannin has some astringency, but the overall package is very good.
