Community Tasting Notes 5

February 3, 2023 - LLM blind tasting dinner. The 2006 CDR and CSD were shown as a pair next to each other. Both showed well but the 2006 CSD clearly had the edge (95+pt). Wonderful Vosne spice nose with violets, wet forest floor. Airy palate, soft tannins. The 2006 CDR (93pt) was much more brooding and structured. It felt as it needed some more time or may be the tannins were just too dry. Decent, but the weakest Grand Cru tonight.

May 21, 2022 - Drinking Burgundy with Friends (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Alongside Mounir's 2006 NSG Cailles. Opened and decanted almost two hours before serving. Plenty of bright red fruit throughout with so much depth, power. and density. Layers gradually emerge with more time in glass. So much better vs my previous bottle from two years ago.

September 17, 2020 - Lucien Le Moine Tasting (My home - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2008. Open two hours before serving, mostly in a decanter. Earthy aromas and flavors with complex array of berries. Similar profile to the 2008, but I would have thought this at least five years older. But this held up wonderfully through almost five hours after initially poured.

December 18, 2017 - Pop n' pour and this needed 5 minutes to shake off some bottle stink, but was rocking and rolling from there. Big, perfumed nose of black cherry, earth, old leather and meaty spice. Very good concentration and fleshy fruit. Tannins are already refined and the acidity is well integrated. In a very good spot already. Surprisingly open 2006 GC, but no reason to think this won't age harmoniously for 10+ years.

April 8, 2011 - Lunch with KH, Gary, Yum Ron, Uncle Seven and Eric (The Press Room): Too primary and too drunk to rate.
