July 26, 2016 - Oregon vs. Burgundy Single Blind (Tilia, Mpls): Medium red color. PNP(?), drank 1 glass blind over 2 hours. I liked this a lot. Earthy, dried earth, potpourri, red raspberry on the nose. The palate starts out a bit firm with tart dark red fruits, mineral, spicy, lovely overall, smoke. Not sure why I went Oregon here, I had theTrapet and the Anden reversed - and in hindsight it probably should have been obvious too - especially if I read my own notes and thought about it a bit. Always humbling - or is that irritating.

July 26, 2016 - Needs a little more time. Say 3-5yrs. Solid but not a head turner and may never be. Classically styled with some Gevrey earth, hint of mushroom, autumnal fruit, spice and mineral. Really a very nice little Burg but, for me, blown away by my WOTN - the 2007 Liginer Michelot MSD 1er cru Aux Charmes which was rocking. The Liginer was a tribute to the 07 vintage, some of which, can drink like the 20yr old plus Burg we all dream about. I nedd to hunt down the Lignier, if I an still find some!

September 17, 2014 - Completely surrounded by Grand Crus such as Latricieres-Chambertin to the North, Mazoyeres-Chambertin East and Clos de la Roche South & West, this Aux Combottes 1er Cru, located very far south of Gevrey-Chambertin on the border of Morey-St-Denis, pulled many interests and attentions to burgundy lovers, which ended up me buying this wine as well. (There are same name 1er Cru at the mid-part of Chambolle-Musigny, so don't get confused like I did. This tasting note took twice, 1st right after the opening and 2nd after 14 hours from the opening the bottle. It changed so much!)
Sight-- Clear, day bright, deep ruby color with hints of pink and ORANGE adjacent to clear rim... after 14 hours, this orange color disappeared!
Nose -- Very woodsy, dry forest floor like right out from oak barrel(this aromas were gone after 14 hours), not much fruits detected except some dried red fruits like cranberry and strawberry.. smells like fruit captured in the oak wooden box.. Fresh roses, violets.. Wow some aromas of sea shell mineral notes dissipates.. little hints of fresh basil leaf and black pepper kind of spices show up also.
Taste -- Confirmed most of elements on the nose. Vibrant acidity.. Showing more fruits on palate than the nose.. spreading ripe strawberry, tart cranberry, red currant and plum skin on mid-palate.. nice tannins are helping to grip those elements on mid-palate which are turning into little spices on back- palate.. completing into beautiful well-balanced burgundy.

May 10, 2013 - Surprise Birthday Party (Q4): No formal notes. Others seemed to like this more than I did. See Matt's note for a detailed note. Good.
