January 31, 2021 - The wine is part prime but still alive and kicking. Some plum and begonias on the nose. But tha wine still shows a wet garden gravel yielding to dry roses, strawberry essence, and a unsweetened licorice pastille finish.

August 27, 2018 - Tar, plums, earth, meaty, nebbiolo all the way, lighter than Barolo (as you might expect), decanted 1hr and served with mushroom risotto

May 22, 2018 - 375ml bottle. Double decanted for sediment then immediately poured into the glass.
Right out of the gate, this has lovely perfume. Tar, darker profiled nebbiolo fruit, roses, spice, and balsamic notes. Broad, yet detailed on the palate. This handles the warmth of the vintage beautifully. Deep and pure, with power without any sense of heaviness. Rich, and with a sense of sap to the fruit, and very fresh. Everything is in balance here with the structure effortlessly carrying the breadth and ripeness of the vintage. Quite long, and drinking at absolute peak in this format with no fear of decline any time soon. Very long on the back end with a little chewy Paje tannins on the back end that have a softer side to them than in more classic years. Cohesive, deep, and serious, yet simultaneously incredibly easy to drink and passively enjoy. A delicious 2000. Showing better than a few years ago. Well done Luca! 93 -

October 3, 2016 - I'm not so familiar with the Pajé Cru. That said, I believe this to be at maturity now. Something of a sterner, darker fruit context that's somewhat in contrast to the body (fruit, acid, tannin), at this stage anyway. Nonetheless, this satisfies, if not necessarily in the way I was expecting (most of the 2000s I've been drinking have seemed young, with a shred of fat to them still). Unsure of where this is headed, if I had some I'd hold only a few more years - with an hour of air in decanter prior to service, naturally. Not the most harmonious of wines, but one that's most certainly a wine of place. recommended
Served non-blind. (double decanted at 9am, with dinner at 7pm).
