  February 7, 2015 - I was planning to put this bottle in this months Napa vs. Walla Walla Syrah Smackdown tasting, but after a little research I came away thinking this was not very typical because ZD only made this wine for 1 or 2 years from grapes sourced off the estate. Also, I read that the Rosa Lee distinction is that it is only available at the winery. Turns out this bottle came to me 2nd hand from the famous Napa Auction in 2007. Well, I decided not to use in the tasting, but drink it up and see what I had. I should have kept it in the tasting because it was a great bottle of wine, and more to the point a great example of a fine Syrah that is similar to northern Rhone styling. Big fruit, big nose, long finish, enough acid to complement food, and smooth, silky tannins that gave it a strong backbone that is missing from many US Syrah entries.

  May 25, 2013 - Very solid syrah in a refined, understated style, nice for a change. Very balanced with sizable fruit and light but lingering finish. Seems very food-friendly (but consumed on its own). Well done

  September 26, 2012 - We were looking forward to this wine we purchased at the winery in '08...did not disappoint. Very fruit forward , but balanced and great with food. It didn't exhibit the earthy quality I often taste in Syrahs, but we embraced the wine as it is... Very drinkable red wine that complements a great meal.

  June 27, 2012 - What red wine should be. No fruit bomb here -- just great plum, cherries balanced by oak. Not cheap, but worth it.
