Community Tasting Notes 4

April 27, 2013 - Decanted for one hour. Clear, medium gold color, no sediment or tartaric crystals. Lemon, honey, nutmeg and candied sugar on the nose. Medium-bodied and balanced on the palate but rather basic. The aftertaste is strongly reminiscent of crème brûlée. A good early drinking Sauternes. 89.

May 25, 2012 - Light in the nose and the palate, this medium bodied Sauternes offers some light honeyed tropical fruit. This will be best tasted on the young side.

March 30, 2012 - Slightly pale golden yellow; seems to be lacking some depth normally associated with Sauternes wines. Dried peach, Botrytis pineapple, honey and toasty oak barrel character, all blended into a seamless concoction of aromas. These aromas are echoed on the palate, beginning from the overripe, yellow fruits with a segue into midpalate honey, finally ending with spicy and toasty oak. The overall aroma palette seems rather scanty, but it is understandable at this price range (16,69€ for a half bottle). However, the wine seems to be lacking more in the structure department: acidity is weak and thus the wine lacks freshness and backbone, making the overall appearance very sticky and lacking in vinous intensity. There are nice, juicy notes, but they seem flat and flabby and the finish lacks length and complexity.

Overall the wine seemed very young, but I doubt the wine will benefit from aging due to its weak body. This wine is a decent everyday Sauternes for early drinking that works better on its own than with a dessert. Probably not the best buy at 16,69€, because one can find a lot better and more balanced Sauternes and other dessert wines at the same price.

November 4, 2011 - Bien, joli nez mais sans caractère. À revoir.
