September 10, 2014 - Blind Tasting in Astoria: vanilla and cherry. resolved and showing age. secondary notes of leather and a bit of soy. good but not great.

September 3, 2014 - Nice, smooth if unspectacular. I suspect the long time in barrel and at the winery took something out of it. Pleasant but not great.

March 27, 2014 - Campillo Vertical tasting (Bodega Santa Cecilia - Madrid): Coke colour with ruby edges.
Little reduction at the beginning. At time, some notes of roasted butter plums emerge.
Liked that medium-bodied on the palate, harsh yet rounded tannin. An amazing contrast.

    Color cola con ribetes rubí.
Un poco de reducción al principio. Con tiempo aparecen notas a ciruelas asadas en mantequilla.
Bien estructurada en boca, áspera y con tanino redondo. Un contraste sorprendente.

May 31, 2013 - Still appearing med ruby at the core, fading to a pale tawny rim.
Wen compared to a 1995 Chianti Classico Riserva that we were simultaneously enjoying, this fully developed Rioja showed more ripe fruit (black cherry, blackberry, plum) on the nose and palate. Mouthfeel is med in body and alcohol. Tannins are ripe yet maintain a bit of dusty rusticity. The finish is med in length, very gratifying.
A very good quality wine, nicely matured, drinking so well right now, but will likely last another 3-5 years...but why wait?

January 31, 2013 - WCC Rioja Blind (Dorato's Resturant, Guilderland, NY): [Opened about 45 minutes before drinking.] Sour mulch nose. Cold, tannic. As it warms and breathes, it shows much better. Tasty.
