January 27, 2012 - Nice bottle of wine. I did not even realize immediately it was a sweet (desert) wine. It needs some time to be out before it an be drinked. Garry W. compare it with the Sauternes...I do not think it is even close to be that good....Maybe good as some old port...But great for some 89pts wine...Got to try it

January 26, 2012 - My wife called and asked me to pick up some Marsala wine as she was preparing Chicken Marsala. I didn't have the time and suggested this wine. It delivered and made a new type of Chicken Marsala. As a bonus, we drank the rest of the bottle with dinner. It is raisins and plums to my palate...not over the top sweet so went well with our fare.

March 19, 2011 - NC Cindy Tasting. Fairly dark but still somewhat translucent crimson, the nose on this grenache-based dessert red is predominantly fig and raisin, but without a lot more than just the fruit. The palate is a repeat of the nose, with tons of fig and raisin, but just no depth and a very disappointingly short finish. There's a lot of the delicious factor, of course, given the high sugar content, but for a dessert wine, this just comes up a bit short. I'm still searching for a grenache-based dessert wine that really delivers. I've scored it an 88, but for dessert wine, that means "meh".

October 16, 2009 - Popped and poured after a nice Chianti Reserve at Italian restaurant. Drank casually over 2 hours with friends. Had cappuccino chocolate chip frozen yogurt and it paired nicely. Very port like, but lighter. Sweet but not over the top.

September 2, 2009 - Color: Very dark Nose: very candied, dark red fruit, skittles/lifesavers/liqueur. On the palate: High alcohol, almost port-like. Sweet but not all the way to a dessert-wine level. Heavy, kinda yummy. Heat is well contained in the fruit. Nice treat, not a dinner wine. Had with cheese and some gourmet crackers, later just on it's own.

(NV Le Gourmand Rivesaltes) #2(tie) ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-strawberries dipped in caramel; port like; underlying cherry fruit roll-up; TASTE-this is strawberry candy; this is the quintessential desert wine to drink w/ chocolate (a gorgeous pairing); gorgeous, explosive & rich, but not too viscous like many red desert wines; will last for 15-20 years. phenomenal w/ cheesecake; I really like this; GV-90+
