October 26, 2021 - Some orange on the rim, only a slight barnyard nose on opening but quickly evolved to forest floor and earth then some fruit and even some flowery notes after 48 hours open. Dark cherry fruit on palate plus earthy notes and the tannins are still there but softened. The finish is refined and lasts 15-20 seconds after a sip. Matched grilled salmon very well on first night. Tonight a glass with parmesan crusted whitefish was very nice and then on a whim I had some with a delicious molasses cookie from a local Cops and Donuts and it was also very complimentary so maybe the cherry fruit helped there? I added a point to my rating for the latter match. Wine is fun!

May 19, 2019 - Showing some bricking, nose deeper than often in Santenay - nice mix of fruit and secondary notes. Mushrooms, forest floor, red cherry. Palate well-balanced, nicely matured. Showing some tannins still, good, refreshing acidity, long finish, mineral. Cherry again sings, along with some serious earth notes. I'm amazed how fresh this is at 14 years. Wow.

March 10, 2019 - Blackberry, plum and cherry nose. Great balance. Very hearty village. Purchased today for $27, outstanding value village compared to current release Bourgogne. Wish I could buy more.

May 16, 2015 - Smooth delicate finish. One sip it is very simple like a bistro wine.. Next sip shows complex nuances of depth. Good finish. Much better with food. For the price very enjoyable.

(Girardin Vincent Santenay Les Charmes) Medium-plus ruby-red colour. The nose started blocky with a little dark oak and roasted dark fruit - a little uncouth - but five minutes in the glass and it is transformed with very pretty flashes of red and black fruits. In the mouth it starts in a similar fashion; muddled dark fruits and oak but quite silky. This improves no end, though never becoming as captivating as the nose. Smooth dark fruit and an ever-present but not unfriendly dark oak flavour as undertow. Smooth and easy drinking once it’s open.
