August 9, 2006 - Stunning, completely unexpected. Shared at a large, formal dinner, where everyone brought an interesting wine. This - and a 1985 Fonseca Port - were the standouts of the evening. Dark ruby red color. Spicy, full bouquet. Full bodied. Soft fruit at first that explodes with all sorts of flavors, followed by a mellow, balanced finish. Rasperries, currants, licorice predomniate. Notes of pepper, cinnamon, chocolate. Long finish. Outstanding.
