January 21, 2015 - We had this after a younger Williams Selyem and was surprised that it had a darker color than the WS. This wine had a wonderful Burgundian funk on the nose that I love. Nice lingering finish, it seems that the tannins are resolved but there is enough acid to keep the finish interesting. NO GREEN NOTES IN THIS WINE. Tasted it the second day and it was still good. I suspect this wine won't improve much with more aging but will hold it place for a long time.

September 6, 2013 - Similar to before. This needed an hour or two fully open up. Moved from fruity cherry to a little more earthiness. Great wine.

October 23, 2012 - Similar to last time but acidity is a little more noticeable this time, but a gentle balsamic quality to it. Very good.
Some notes on cheeseboard matching: Montgomery cheddar worked reasonably well but the Pont l'Eveque totally obliterated it - avoid!! Millens worked a little better, which being like Epoisses you might expect, but still not a great match and it changed the taste of wine somewhat
A De Bortoli botrytis semillon worked far better with all three.

October 13, 2012 - Very good especially considering this is not a well-rated vintage. Good fruit but with some interesting secondary development, absolutely no green notes. Good acidity and some structure underneath it although seems like it may dry out a few hours after pouring so this needs to be drunk quickly from bottle i think but probably has a few years yet in cellar.
Notes of cherry and forest floor and the faintest hint of barnyard. There is also some nice sweet notes and some graininess which I like (ie it adds a bit of weight to it).
... I think I was wrong on air-time: this improved for an hour after pouring, taking on some lovely, soft earthy-fruity notes. Some lovely raspberry here too. Beautiful wine, great value too (£26 from Wine Society).

June 24, 2012 - A nice medium-light weight, good acidity, very primary red fruit and a lot of iron. Didn't develop in the glass over 2 hours; ultimate a bit on the tough side. If like other Burguet wines the question is whether it will get funky in 10 years or just dry up. I'll split the difference.
