December 10, 2020 - Leather predominant nose with a gaminess, black cherry fruit and violets. Taste evokes Bordeaux from a good year with leather, gravel and rich black cherry. The finish is long and has a savory note. There is still tannin here so I think it has a good 5 excellent years left

February 2, 2019 - Picked up from store closing. past its prime, but still incredible with a ribeye. Rich, integrated. barnyard nose cleared quickly. Earthy Merlot.

October 29, 2017 - Anniversary wine. Mature cassis, leather, tobacco, cocoa with just enough acids to balance out the silky tannins. Very dense without being extracted. Drinking very well right now. Pleasure to have shared it with spouse.

November 24, 2016 - Paired with a prime cut ribeye. Cassis, stewed dark fruits, leather and tobacco. Starting to run low on brighter fruits which is something I enjoy, so I bet I would have liked this even more a few years ago. Good balance and acidity, tannins are just about right...still some structure but not at all grippy. All in all,, a really good wine, especially compared to the over-oaked with that was also opened.

October 7, 2016 - I thought this was really excellent! It surpassed, in my opinion, the 3 mature vintages of Pichon Lalande that preceded it. Decanted for several hours, it had lots of sediment. Taste was cedar, earth, perhaps mushrooms, and lush, dark fruit. lingering finish.
