April 1, 2019 - Two hour slow ox, drank over four hours. To me this lacked firmness. It had lots of alcohol and round, dark fruit with oak present. I see some people love this but it doesn't spark joy for me.

October 3, 2018 - Intense and dense layers of raspberry, boysenberry and blueberry fruit, with black pepper and spices. Somehow combines rich viscosity with brightness of fruit, all held in terrific balance by the acid and tannic structure. I'm a little surprised the fruit tasted so vivid and fresh after all this time. Very tasty and fun.

September 14, 2018 - Decanted 3h at 1862. Huge nose spices black and white pepper berries. Massive wine. Extracted unctuous red berries, red fruit, black pepper and spices on the palate. This wine is intense! 95-96

August 21, 2018 - Very, very smooth. At first, we thought it might be a bit over the hill because the wine is so soft and round, there are tannins but they are really smooth now. But then we read a tasting note from 2004 describing in the same way, I think it's simply the style of the wine. Delicious flavors, but maybe a little less backbone than we'd prefer. On the nose - ripe blackberry pie, cassis, cinnamon, hint of vanilla. Similar flavors on the palate, but extremely long finish, high acid - but the acid is well integrated and doesn't overpower the fruit in the mouth.

August 8, 2018 - Dark brooding monster. So much of everything here, loads of fruit and tannin. To me, this is still a baby. Give it a vigorous decant if serving anytime soon, don't feel it was a fair evaluation on a pop and pour.
