Community Tasting Notes 5

September 18, 2017 - Birthday Tasting (Cyclone Liqours Cellar 626 Ames, Iowa): Pnp. Beautiful nose of dark red fruits and a little funk. Rich and fruity palate with well integrated tannins and acidity. Super delicious and fun to drink. I could smell this wine all day.

October 1, 2013 - Decanted for 1 hour before it opens up. Medium to full bodied, plum fruits, berries and oak with a long finish. Balanced and structured. Plenty of tannin to last many years. It should improve from here. 92+.

December 13, 2008 - This is our fourth bottle of this wine and we tried to get it exchanged at the store we bought it at, but they refused to exchange it. We know this is a great wine with lots of dried fig, liquorice and jammy fruit, but the bottle we opened tasted nothing like the 3 previous bottles we had shipped directly to us from St. Emilion. We just have to assume this bottle was bad!

April 26, 2008 - 2005 Bordeaux: Episode 2 (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc. Bold aromas of cassis, blueberries, vanillin oak, and stem. Creamy palate with floral overtones and notes of crushed raspberries and cassis. Very structured finish.

April 26, 2008 - 2005 Bordeaux Report: Episode 2 (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Loads of ripe Merlot notes on the nose including menthol, plum, and licorice. The palate stuns you with gobs of sweet brambly fruit along with firm structure and an interesting mint undertone on the medium long finish. Excellent.
