August 4, 2016 - PNP. Cork perfect. Color dark ruby. Nose has dark fruit oak and cedar and some violets. Swishing shows tannin framing the super dense slightly overripe fruit. Sipping allows the balance to show. This needs a heavy dish with lots of fat to balance it out. This is going nowhere and should age for a lot longer. Was a pleasant surprise for $12 post off, but unlike many of their wines this is non-delicate
Because this didn't match dinner corked and in fridge. Chilling this accentuates a VA that smells like model airplane glue. I would not chill it. -

April 27, 2011 - Picked up on a lark while at the supermarket, this is quite nice and different. Fruit is a mix of red currants and cherries with some violet floral notes on the nose. The palate follows through on that with some lavender notes too. The palate has definite fruit but maintains transparency finishing with noticeable tannins that are slightly rough (from the Petite Syrah?). Fun wine, esp good with grilled meat.

December 7, 2010 - Not as good as the time before. A little more awkward mouthfeel and harsher flavors. Still has some floral notes but less spice and a lot of sour cherry. Just not quite as smooth and balanced as last time I had it. I think it has potential to come back around. It was still pretty good so I'm giving it 88 points.

August 23, 2009 - Nice job guys, this is a special wine with unique flavors and aromas. I have worked on batches of Carrignan during harvest and experienced the exuberant aroma of violets and roses that filled the winery. I have seen these old vines in Mendocino, they look like peach trees in South Carolina. So much depth and structure. Such great color. Violets and even cedar on the nose. Heavy bodied without much tannin or oak. The Petit Sirah brings that blueberry flavor. It is a little rustic on the finish. Super.
