  May 30, 2018 - Dark purple color, cloudy with sediment. Rich, rich, sweet blackberry with pepper and spice. Very rich texture, fleshy, the wine sort of oozes over the tongue, yet is still energetic. Big...really big; in a word, Rubenesque. Not apparent initially, but some alcoholic heat nipped on the aftertaste as the wine warmed. Holding up well as it ages, but it is probably similar to what it was when young without much maturation. Enjoyable if you like it big and fleshy.

  March 16, 2018 - Pnp. Even balanced new world Syrah. Easy to drink. Good structure. Some spice to palate. Went well with grilled tri tip.

  January 16, 2018 - 2006 JAFFURS UPSLOPE SYRAH- 15.8% abv; the pinnacle of this winery`s fabulous line of Syrah is captured in this bottling which is sourced from the best of their best vineyard designates; with many years to go before hitting its apex, this showed beautifully on this night; smoke, pepper, spice and violets inundate the blueberry and blackberry fruit; it is full bodied, layered and long, thankfully.
