March 23, 2019 - More life left than you might think. Coravin’ed a glass and was a little disappointed; dark purple, no bricking, but overall taste was soft and slightly pruned, with a conclusion that it was over the hill. About a week later we finished the bottle and (though the cork disintegrated into a messy disaster) it was much better. Still mature, but no off-putting prune flavors, just smooth subdued fruit with some interesting secondary notes of pine and mineral.

October 13, 2013 - Good nose, fruit & tannins lacking on the palate. I would drink now if I had anymore,

September 16, 2013 - Definitely more subdued than in the past, it has softened with age. Toasty, meaty nose with a touch of violets; lots of savory notes. Great weight and texture on the body with some dark fruit, blood, and dried meat. Soft and silky, but finishes with super fine tannins and a hint of bright acidity. Enjoyable right now, and seems to have the acidity to last a bit longer, but not sure it will improve significantly.

December 21, 2012 - This wine is great. I really can't rate this under a 92. Definitely at its peak in my opinion. Very nice celebration wine to drink, almost glad I'm drinking it solo. Less to share!!! :)

November 11, 2012 - Definitely WW Syrah on the nose, but subdued. Dense, black fruits and crushed violets, blanketed by some light toast. Silky black and blue fruit on the palate, though it finishes with a light grip and bright acidity. Lots of sediment. Overall enjoyable, though I do find the acid a little out of balance.

(Va Piano Vineyards Estate Syrah Walla Walla Valley) An elusive nose with perfume, violets, earth, and game notes showing late. High, light berries mix with river creek aromas. The more you put your nose in to the glass the more the wine seems to move away. The nose shows small cracks in the armor at times. An incredible amount of up and down movement on the palate. Doesn’t seem to have completely come together at present but is extraordinarily intriguing and improves as it opens up. 100% Va Piano Vineyards Block 4 Syrah. 14.4% alcohol. 20% new French oak. 80% neutral French oak. 100 cases produced.
