December 29, 2021 - Opened a magnum of this to work through over post-Christmas week. I side with Microbox and Lipton on this wine: pretty simple. Plausible as a regional wine but, as a 1er St. Denis, misses the mark by a lot. I opened another magnum for the winter holidays four or five years ago and it had a nice, bouncy texture that soothed the palate, but nothing of note in terms of depth or complexity. I have one more mag, and my best plan for it at this moment is to pour it into a massive, bubbling cauldron of beef bourguignon.

April 22, 2017 - Drunk tonight with mediocre takeout Chinese food. Initially, the nose showed some interesting baking spices, but the wine overall was quite simple. Silky fruit, fully resolved tannins were about the whole story here. No secondary, let alone teriary, development here.

November 27, 2015 - From magnum, served at Thanksgiving dinner: good structure, tannin density, acid backbone. Fruit is a bit low-key, less than you'd expect with a good 1er from MSD. No rush to drink, no harm in drinking. Good with the heavy TG fare.

May 16, 2014 - After my recent experience with another bottle this is a pleasant surprise. eye: clear, ruby, translucent, 2mm fading, tears form quickly, but are fine and run slowly. nose: red cherry and red berries, sous bois. palate: medium body with good structure and weight, the fruit still lingers, tannins smooth, silky but privide a solid backbone. 17 Caudalie, stable. very enjoyable but not exactly multidimensional.
