Community Tasting Notes 5

May 24, 2013 - No formal notes. Started out a bit funky but opened up with air became really nice. Sweeter red fruits with some earthy notes as well. A good bit of structure. Drinking well now but should improve with more time in the cellar. Very good. 89+

August 3, 2012 - Forest floor-pine needle-earthy nose. Palate shows good structure & plenty of red fruit. Drinking well & shows significant upside with more years in bottle. Tannins still have plenty of bite. Drink now or over the next 5-10 years.

May 1, 2012 - Another serious, tannic Gaunoux wine - real meat on the beaunes. Big wine, lots of structure, tightens up with air. Plenty of material here, pretty nose. It absolutely needs substantial food - duck was OK, but maybe beef or game would tame it. Not as good as the '99 version. Not sure how well this village wine will age, but it won't fade away anytime soon.

March 19, 2012 - Lovely secondary and tertiary characteristics with lot’s of pleasant barnyard. Tart cherry palate w/ licorice cherry nose. Just as good on day 2, so lots of life left. Drink now or hold. 12.5% alc.

February 26, 2012 - Drank after the 88 Dehlinger the evening after La Paulee. I really enjoyed this wine, although it will still keep for awhile. Really pretty nose, not the most elegant but full and rich with lots of red fruits and some gaminess. Good acid backbone, nice weight and nice long finish.
