Community Tasting Notes 12

August 20, 2018 - Started out angry and sour, almost lactic in nature, but opened with time. Fairly classic Wachau riesling, with lemon, stone and a floral note. It comes off as fairly big and perhaps lacking acidity and freshness. I would say drink now.

June 18, 2011 - Refreshing with good acidity, lemon, minerals. A solid wine.

October 17, 2010 - Refreshing and has some solid notes but boring.

August 1, 2010 - Unscrewed and poured two glasses on 7/28/10. Pale straw hue, hint of yellow. Faint aromas of stone fruits, citrus, and minerals. Medium-light body. On the palate, this white is poised and precise, with moderate fruit complimented by noticeable note of crushed stones and minerals. Slightly effervescent with a nice dose of acidity that keeps everything fresh. However, the flavors do seem a bit clipped on the close.
Reopened on 8/01, while opening the screw cap an audible hiss was apparent from the release of CO2. Slightly darker, more like yellowed honey. On day 3, the once muted nose is alive with tropical fruits, stone fruits, lemon, and a persistent note of minerals. Medium-light body. On the palate, the fruit cocktail continues and actually tastes a bit like...well, fruit cocktail! But the sheer scope of fruit is almost reminiscent of a white Hermitage, but with less honeysuckle and more citrus. Again, the acid is still crisp and refreshing on the now extended, mineral-laden close. Very nice example of Gruner and eye-opening to see how beneficial air can be for a well-made example of this grape.

June 21, 2010 - Very impressive for the price. Big fruit but in a bracingly acidic package. Solid length and not a Ton of complexity.
