May 25, 2017 - Bad boy wine night - mostly high octane wines with a surprise or two. (The Grill Room at Rosewood DC): Slightly advanced color. Slightly medicinal nose, lychee, dry apricot, honey and butter scotch. Fully integrated palate, good acidity and a medium finish. It seems a bit cloying and tired. This is more akin to a ten year old basic Viognier than a Condrieu. Also, Viognier, even Condrieu, is better to be consumed upon release as Hugh Johnson recommends in his encyclopedia of wine.

September 26, 2011 - We opened this to follow the Miner Viognier. Less floral, but I thought it had better structure and balance and was less hot. Tempered stone fruit and minerals, this was drinking just beautifully.

June 5, 2011 - Blind Syrah Tasting w/ Ryan Johnson, Dick Boushey, Eric LeVine, and MrBigJ (Wild Ginger, Seattle, WA): The nose of this wine had aromas of citrus zest, honey and perfume. What a great nose, but there was a disconnect with the palate. Nice flavors of apricot and some tart citrus flavors were present, but it was also pretty hot. A boozy, cocktail wine... but it did have a great nose.

April 5, 2011 - This is always nice. Like a ripe Condrieu. Not inspiring but a nice, honest effort.

December 20, 2010 - A nose of honey and citrus, pale to golden in color. A smooth medium bodied white, apricot and honeysuckle, peach with spice and mineral, good acidity, an elegant wine.

September 11, 2010 - Big and full on the palate, with lots of California sunshine. Not very complex, but quite enjoyable with creamy peach and citrus flavors. I had no idea that the alcohol was 15.5% until I saw it on the bottle.

February 7, 2010 - Straw color, pretty cloudy in appearance. Good Viognier nose with lots of flowers, orange peal, spices and honey. Big, rich and oily on the palate. A bit flabby for my taste, missing the acidic balance found in Condrieu wines. Well made for the price, just needs to be toned down some.
