July 26, 2009 - very pale straw yellow/green tinge. light bouquet; green fruits, apples, grapes, lemon, soft light caramel, light oak. Taste; slight smokiness apples. light easy drinking, nothing exceptional hopefully will get better with more time. 85pts

November 22, 2008 - The wine opens up almost immediately with bright citrusy fruits, almond and nice minerality with a rich buttery texture and a light touch of oak. A delicious food wine.

September 25, 2008 - This is delicious! The screwcap opens up to inviting aromas of citrus fruits, lime and lemon oil. With time and air, the citrusy palate gives way to more textured and buttery feel. Though slightly hollow in the middle, this is one of the most delicious Chards at this price point. As the night wears on, the hollow becomes more apparent, so I wouldn't keep this beyond 2-3 years, which obviously is not a difficult thing to do.

July 18, 2008 - Although never expressly stated one gets the strong impression that HC seeks to be the leading producer of sub $20 wine in the Yarra Valley. The 2006 didn't blow me away but this vintage is right on the mark. Pale yellow gold in colour with some depth, particularly for a 1yr old. Nose shows a nice sweet citrus tang and a soft hint of oak. Palate is quite tight early with more lemon and citrus, almost a fraction sour, but this soon gives way to a softer, creamy note from oak and perhaps some malo? Makes the transition incredibly effortlessly and shows some class not always evident at this price level.
