December 30, 2020 - Drank over a long leisurely evening at home. This has lost the adolescent brawn it displayed when last drank in 2012 and has quietened down to rounded and integrated mid-adulthood but with a long life still ahead of it. Not as characterful as the near-neighbour Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir Reserve 2001 we drank the previous day but both wines confirm my view that top Central Otago pinots have uncharted ageing potential (20+ years, for sure). With hindsight, this would probably benefited from a 1-2 hour decant, which I will do next time.

June 6, 2019 - Not a shy Pinot in any sense, dazzles from intro stage (1hr+ decant), with vibrant fruit, strawberry and orange peel giving way to darker, earthier notes: black olives, mushroom. But it is it’s the acidity that has held up so well and makes it special and so enjoyable to drink. A marvellous Pinot

January 12, 2018 - Dark garnet. High toned brambly currant bouquet. Deep on the palate with lashings of dark and bright berries coupling with some sandalwood spice and fine grained tannins. Smooth and medium to long final. Nicely balanced although surprised by just how sweet this came across as - although not in the least bit jammy or confected.

A real crowd pleaser although perhaps a bit monolithic. Clearly as others have noted the NZ pinots can age - this was going very nicely and I'm sorry it was my last one. Would have liked to have tried this in around 2023.

December 24, 2017 - Nice and very enjoyable Pinot Noir character. Very typical Central Otago style. Despite 10 years still a fresh and pure Pinot Noir fruit (I normally find that New Zeeland Pinot Noir should be enjoyed quite young, but maybe because this was from a magnum bottle it have developed slower). Some sweetness in the finish, but not much complexity. 86-88
