November 26, 2021 - Sweet nose of dark fruit, earth and banana oil. Medium length. Beautiful balance.

May 30, 2021 - A 65th Birthday Celebration, Slightly COVID Delayed (EL Ideas - Chicago IL): Late night, small glass, brief note. There were very differing opinions about this wine. Clearly there was some madeirized character here, but that did not particularly bother me. There was good intensity and enough vibrancy to encourage me to continue on, and i found enough intriguing nooks and crannies to find it enjoyable.

September 12, 2018 - Le Cinq Legends Dinner 2018 (Le Cinq Restaurant, George Cinq Four Seasons, Paris): Disappointing. Thin and flat. No match for the other great '55 Bordeaux in the flight

March 30, 2018 - A Few Favorite Wines (Vaucluse): Bottle was not in the best shape, but that didn't seem to bother the wine at all. Poured a really dark red. This was quite young and vibrant as well. No detailed notes unfortunately, but a wine that I enjoyed revisiting throughout the dinner. It was just a hint musty on the first sip, but that blew off quickly and the fruit was definitely still there along with some more secondary notes. Still going strong and a real treat to try.

November 10, 2017 - Birthday wine I gave to my friend a month ago and he graciously served it at my birthday dinner last night. This was already in the decanter 2.5 hours before I was able to taste it and it had become somewhat Madeirized, with a sweet port nose and some slight sweetness on the palate. Nevertheless, the body was full and complex with some silky tannins remaining and notes of chocolate and cherry. What a treat. If I ever get another bottle I'd love to see how it evolves right after opening.

May 7, 2015 - Now we're talking. Served double blind, this beauty displayed a mineral driven nose, complicated by cherry pipe tobacco, cedar wood, cigar box and hints of cherry blossoms in the nose. Full bodied, spicy sensuous, there is a lot to like about this wine

October 16, 2012 - WOW! What a treat and a surprise to taste. Served blind, I was sure this was decades younger due to its fresh fruit, aromatics and palate presence. Packed with ripe, jamy berries, minerality and smoky, tobacco scents, the wine was rich, plush, long and silky.

October 7, 2012 - Old Burg and Bordeaux at the Capital Grille Tysons (Capital Grille Tysons): The color is promising but strangely muted. Audouzed for 8 plus hours, black fruits, ink and earth. Not quite all there compare to the other two bottles from the same batch. This is how it goes sometimes, three strikeouts.

September 7, 2012 - Østkantsmaking: Dyp rød med brunstikk. Svak bruning i kanten. Søtlig nese med kaffe og brent tre. Flott dybde i frukten. Hint av tørket frukt. Sursøt. Tørr avslutning med fin lengde.

September 7, 2012 - Seven Decades of Right Bank Wines (Trondheim, Norway (my house)): Mid shoulder fill. Browner than the others in this 50’s flight. Slightly stewed nose, sweetish fruit; better in the mouth, but still slightly sweet, some complexity lurking there somewhere, surprisingly rich.
