June 3, 2017 - We were impressed with this wine the last time we opened a bottle (7/2010). It has continued to mature and improve over the last 7 years. Still very dark red with a 1-2 mm clear edge. Needed about 30 minutes of airtime to open up to beautiful berry fruit aromas, some leather and spice. A delicate medium weight with well balanced fruit and acidity, no tannins now, with a medium length smooth finish. It is always gratifying to have kept a wine for more than 20 years that we tasted as a new release (and thought had potential) and have it turn out to be such a beautiful wine. Doesn't always turn out that way!

April 26, 2017 - Blind 1995 Bordeaux at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Served blind in flights of 1995 Bordeaux. High-toned, with a good dose of Sharpie marker on the nose. Super ripe, and way too rich. Another of those "oak the terroir out of the wine" wines, but in all fairness, the oak isn't so bad that it singes the palate with its tannin. This was the first bottle (apart from the Grivot) where it was fairly obvious to say this probably wasn't Bordeaux, though from where? Ended up calling it as some international modernist bullshit (sorry, Peter!). Odd, since this was still from an era where the California wines were only just starting to push the octane levels.

December 3, 2016 - Absolutely divine. Moss, eucalyptus and funky old barn notes on the nose, but a delicious menagerie of oak and red fruit await a deliciously long finish. What a well made masterpiece. This wine has developed some very lovely secondary notes. Our third wine of the evening and this entertained some well worn taste buds quite nicely.

June 18, 2016 - Very noce and had a little bit to much acid but the fruit was still strong. Give this a little decant or it can rest for a few more years with ease
