Community Tasting Notes 9

August 10, 2016 - I was expecting an off dry style, but this was very dry and very minerally as well, which was another surprise for an Austrian riesling from Hirsch. This has integrated well, but I think is at or just after its peak, so I would drink soon. A nice mix of medium bodied tropical fruit (especially pineapple), grapefruit and citrus flavours merge with the mineral notes (B+/A-).

July 6, 2010 - Consistent with previous notes, a bit heavier on the lemon peel. Still showing nicely.

June 10, 2010 - this time around I was much more aware of the lush ripeness of this wine. it certainly tastes great but it doesn't have the delicacy or the focus of the 2007, which i much prefer. this is more of a bruiser, and not as complete of a wine.

March 7, 2010 - i liked this, although i felt that it gave me congestion - oak maybe. Otherwise quite enjoyable although I did not pick up some of the nuances of other writers

November 22, 2009 - airy freshness, perfect balance, great focus. we drank this with skate wing in brown butter and it was a great match. the wine was not overmatched at all, and in fact its clarity and chiseled nature was a nice counterpoint to the richness of the dish. with time open there is a lovely geranium aroma. very impressive wine.
