December 11, 2023 - Someone brought this to a party over the summer and someone had a glass. It ended up in our liquor cabinet with just a cork in it for 6 months. Opened it and tried a glass. It was a bit rough around the edges - not bad, but sat too long. When I poured it I used our Coravin to add argon gas and let it sit for a week and it recovered well to my surprise. While maybe past its prime, this is still a very good wine. Starts with cherry, bramble, graphite and a hint of blackberry. Acidity and tannins are very light, but the flavor is big. Drink up soon.

February 28, 2021 - Previous comments spot on. Lots of life. Tannin bigger than 10 years ago. Lots of spice and red cherry at core. Big finish. I kept waiting to taste the “fallen shoulder, or dark nothingness”. very wrong and very pleasantly surprised

June 8, 2020 - Like the last reviewer, I thought this wine would be well past its prime. An 18-year-old California sangiovese? Like the last reviewer, I was dead wrong. It was a fantastic wine. Still lots of bright dark fruit, but with a unique and delicious overtone of smoky cedar. I only wish I'd forgotten more bottles of this in my cellar!

April 28, 2019 - Ok honestly I thought this was going to be past it’s prime and thin crap insipid . I couldn’t have been more wrong ....velvety dusty muted cherry core with complex spices and dust. Integrated and perfect harmony. Frankly I’ve never had a new world Sangiovese that was decent until this !

February 11, 2016 - Lots of smiles for this 2002 Thackrey Sangiovese. With Hyde's at SFYC Prime rib nite and Aquila holding up nicely. Dark cherry and spices at mid and a full finish. Gone before main arrived so popped a Flanagan Syrah which also delighted.
