Community Tasting Notes 4

November 4, 2020 - This is The End....The End My Friend (Home): Deep violet red color. Drank a small pour over 40 minutes. Tart with red fruits, good acid and moderate tannins. Very solid though nothing complicated.

October 8, 2009 - Listed in my guide as "Mini-Edicion". Dark purple - good tart acidity there too. Well made, ripe petite verdot.

October 8, 2009 - Probably the best straight Petite Verdot that I have ever had. And shows the varietal. Grip, nose, and then a rather full body for Petite Verdot. works at $32. 50% new oak but that doesn't really show to me. Supposedly a great wine with game. I could see that working out.

November 8, 2008 - Tasted at the winery. The bottle was opened about one hour prior to tasting.

Tough to rate this against other 100% Petite Verdots, as this is the frist I've tried. The nose was huge, with leather and a good deal of minerality. Good fruit, yet hugely tannic across the tongue, asking for a big steak to accompany it.

The winery itself is spectacular, with acres under dramatic, red tile roof lines, generous shady overhangs and perimeter walks throughout. Production areas are first class, even with one of only 3 hydraulic, digitally controlled presses in all of Argentina. All flows are gravity fed. All the oak is French, medium toasted. The vines were all planted new, on about 250+ acres in the Agrelo area, not far from Paull Hobbs' Vina Cobos project, from which the top wine fetches up to $265 US on Argentine restaurant wine lists I saw. This is the very first release of wines form Decero. We are sure to see this name rising in our radar as word spreads.
