June 6, 2021 - Picked this up at auction a few years ago with a few other ‘95 Chapoutiers (Le Pavillion, l’Ermite)—and this was really spectacular. Decanted for three hours, then enjoyed over the next two with a caesar salad and grilled lamb chops. Great aroma as soon as it hit the decanter, and when it finally hit the glass, wow. Amazing structure and finesse, with great notes of butterscotch, tobacco and leather. But what really stood out was the fruit—just jumped out of the glass. Don’t understand the overall 88.8 rating here on CT—felt like I drank an entirely different wine. Outstanding.

March 17, 2017 - In the zone. Give it air and it will grow.

October 23, 2016 - Even though I am an inexperienced wine drinker, I thought people might want an update on the longevity of this wine. This bottle was a joy to drink. Sweet fruit and minerality dominated a harmonious taste. In a great place to drink now, and this bottle could probably have been kept for longer, no signs of decline. Wish I had more.

July 2, 2014 - Nose not particularly expressive and the taste was not extraordinary. Quite pleasant and well balanced but not great.

October 14, 2012 - Pretty good. Still very dark in color. Not particularly expressive nose. Palate of dark fruit, more earth than fruit, not a lot of tannin, reasonably fresh. Hard to see what it might become. My discrete CT scale: 95-extraordinary; 90-very good; 85-good; 80-fair; 75-poor.
