Community Tasting Notes 5

January 24, 2016 - Very different experience from May2011 (which was clearly flawed). Nose shows vanilla extract with dark berries. Palate is ripe plums and berries. Although ripe there is a lot of youth to this. Strong finish. Hard to believe this is 13 years old from a tough vintage.

September 1, 2012 - Pleasant aromas. Good acidity and tannins slightly prominent. Improved with the food (pasta with ragu of sausage). It surprised us.

May 1, 2011 - Very similar experience to RajivA. The nose on this was horrible. I like old world earth and barnyard, but this was over the top. We couldn't tell if this was flawed or just a real funky smelling wine. After about 3 hours (we moved on) we came back to this and the taste was delicious but most couldn't get past the smell, and was undrinkable (to most). No official score. Unoffical would be somehwhere around 84 - 50+4+5+18+7

January 23, 2011 - Spice and Plum on the nose. Vinturi'd into decantor and decanted for 2 hours. Beautiful wine. Old world showing through. Earth, tobacco, spice and fruit. Drinking very nice right now and has the backbone to go for another 8+ years.

October 28, 2009 - Distributor Tastings (CV): C&D (CV): Dark dull purple.
Nose: a little dirty and reduced.
P: ripe, med tannins, some terroir and fruit. Pretty good but flawed nose. FLAW>
