Community Tasting Notes 9

April 11, 2010 - Nose of black fruit, leather and pepper. Robust flavors of black currant, and peppery oak. Well structured and nice smooth tannin. Will buy again. Tasted from M1.5 Liter magnum.

March 15, 2010 - Degustação Chez Michael e Luciana em março 2010. O pior da noite, não é ruim, mas perto dos outros chegou a ficar "adocicado"...

November 28, 2009 - Usually a heavily-oaked wine has a vanilla flavor. At the first sip, this one was so oaky that it tasted like toasted coconut! Odd as it was, I didn't find the Toro Prima unpleasant. It's just a side effect of a winemaking style where all the dials are set to eleven. I can't tell where this wildly outsized Tempranillo is just a novelty wine suitable for stumping and amazing friends, or a truly serious bottling that just needs another 5-10 years to settle down. In the former case, it's mildly overpriced; in the later, it's a bargain.

November 7, 2009 - Nice wine, fruity with lots of strawberries, mild tannins.

August 16, 2009 - mixed berry and tobacco nose; big time sl sweet red and black currant, other mixed berry; plenty of oak but the fruit stands up to it; enough acid, tannin and tobacco notes to make this more than just a fruit bomb; nice mix with a bbq tri tip.
