July 11, 2010 - Lesser Italian White Varietals (Duchman Family Winery Driftwood, Texas): A blend of carricante, catarrato, inzolia, grecanico, and chardonnay, this was a weird and complicated wine. Initially it was effervescent and the nose and palate seemed out of sync. It was called “the red of the whites,” with herbal notes and lot of body. A nose of dust, earth, herbs, grass, and stinky cheese, it had a limestone minerality, surprising flavors of dry apple pie, cherry ganache, and some peach, and a very rich finish. Delicious after awhile, and a favorite of one group of tasters.

May 28, 2010 - Italy against Spain (Winecorner - wine shop, Bialy Kamien, Warsaw, Poland): colour - white gold- really light. Nose: salty. taste: Mineral and soily with medium accidity, subtle - you can feel the terroir.
