Community Tasting Notes 4

October 28, 2008 - Much better than my last notes. Had with chicken marcala (from Capers) and the whole bottle was smooth and inviting. Enjoy!

December 30, 2006 - Hummm... Had this as a second bottle after home made pasta fagioli. Very earthy and needed a while to open up. Needs to be paired with a strong food, since by itself it seemed overdone and wasn't nearly as good as when we had it out to eat. Holding out hope since I bought a case and have 11 more to go.

June 30, 2005 - This straightforward Barbera has most of the pieces in place, I think, but it just doesn't suit my own tastes. The nose emits powerful, intriguing caramel and tar notes, and the viscous, edgy, even juicy palate shows off a bundle of tart cherry flavors. But while I like the flavor profile, it's too acidic -- and a bit metallic -- for my liking, even though I normally enjoy a wine with bite. The finish leaves something to be desired, too, though that's not all that surprising for an everyday wine like this.
