May 18, 2019 - Wines tasted at HDH Celebration of Burg Auction - Day Two (Spiaggia): A bit shy on the nose, but it opens up with time in the glass. The palate is where this wine shines. Plump and juicy with good layering. Maturing fruit with nice dried floral and spice notes throughout. A fun bottle.

May 18, 2019 - HDH Burgundy Auction; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (Chicago, IL): A little muted on the nose, but the palate is bright with some delicious red fruit. It doesn't quite have the delicacy and perfume I would expect from Volnay, but there's this intensity of fruit on the palate that's super delicious.

February 10, 2010 - Cote de Beaune 1er Cru Tasting (Casa de la Mata - Chicago IL): Tasted blind. My Wine of the Night, the group's #2. Spicy red cherry and strawberry aromas with intense spice. Almost identical on palate, with very ripe, forward fruit flavors. Once unveiled, I thought this from the riper 1999. Slightly better than another bottle I opened a couple of weeks ago.

February 10, 2010 - Wineflock - Cote de Beaune 1ers (Dennis'): Group #2, My #2 - Soft crimson red color. Smooth clean red fruit with levandar, toast, and cola notes - nice. Mmmmn, nice big round complex red fruit palate with a long firm round finish that just 'unfolds' over time. Easily best of the actual Cote de Beaunes...

January 23, 2010 - Brought to a blind tasting, but I knew what it was. Lots of red fruit with fresh herbs and big spice. Ripe and dense on palate, most people thought this from Vosne-Romanee. Great balance and power. Still getting better.

January 23, 2010 - Big wine - not particularly Volnay like, in that it's very ripe, bold, and spicy; almost a Leroy-take and more Vosne. Deep flavors. Very nice.
