  December 15, 2017 - Reticent and reductive at first, but within an hour it opened up and showed a beautiful palate of silky chocolate and strawberry with dust, pipe tobacco, and dill. Classic Rioja with lots of elegance and finesse. Make sure you give it a decent decant first.

  May 16, 2009 - As noted by others, the cork had a blue-green mouldy appearance after removing the foil. Wine was also very rusty coloured. Tasted OK, and not like vinegar as with other wines that I have had that have oxidized. But I expected a lot more from this one.

  October 3, 2008 - After removing the foil, I noticed mould on the cork that appeared to follow the cork all the way down into the bottle. I noticed kingofwine posted a similar note. I returned the bottle to the store, unopened. We took it in the back room, opened it and tasted it. It was light red and there were clear oxidation notes. They gave me a new bottle (checked the cork in the store) and this pour, although not inky, is fairly dark red in color. Hints of toffee, toast and berries on the nose. Very light, slightly watery mouth feel. Subtle strawberry, caramel, wood chips, cherry, acids and soft alcohol flavours. It still leaves a bit of tannins on the cheeks. I would love to have met this wine 5 years ago, when it surely had more fire. I am not sure how I should score a wine at the end of its life, especially when I have not seen it before, so I won’t. A pleasure for those who are interested.
