November 2, 2023 - 2005 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts Vieilles Vignes (tasted at a Chevaliers event). Dark ruby, rim variation, viscous; complex terroir wine; red and black fruit, violets, rose petal nose; mid-acids; mid-plus tannins; good depth; long firm finish; needs time. 17.5 UC Davis scale, 93 other scales.

July 9, 2022 - So young and so good. Powerful nose. Pure fruit and crunchy tannins and minerals and some herbal notes. Drank it with '05 Mugnier NSG Marechal and '09 Rossignol-Trapet Latricieres. Much debate for WOTN and it is a style question. G-C v Vosne. Pure and stony fruit v sous-bois and mushrooms. Mugnier an outstanding wine, but clearly behind the others.

April 20, 2021 - My WoTN, edging out a lovely 2008 Georges Noellat Vosne 1er Beauxmonts and the 2012 and 2013 versions of this wine.

Persistent, lacy and great fruit. 2005 is indeed a wonderful year (assuming one is patient). I had slow-oxed this bottle for 3 hours prior to dinner.

February 15, 2021 - Opens with exotic and classy nose of patchouli, nutmeg, roses, black cherries, some faint leather and licorice. Some stylish oak still sitting on top of the black cherry and filling out the middle of this wine. lots of depth to the fruit but still primary and not as layered or complex as expected. Tasty and open, no fireworks though. Should articulate more if you have the patience.

November 2, 2020 - Drank over 2 days. Day 1, tight, angular and ripe. Plenty of grip and structure. Precise and focused in that classic Clavelier style, but just way too young for me. Fruit is bordering on overripe. Day 2, more depth and weight, more broad shouldered, Vosne spice and a darker profile. This is a baby. Cellar the rest for 5-7 years minimum and check back in.
