December 31, 2016 - my last box of this wine was clearly very poorly stored, I had the opportunity to drink one blindly : lovely showing with some slightly burned touches, layered fruits, very good wine

May 9, 2016 - Not as good as previous bottles. Very tight, but slowly opened over time. Some red fruit eventually. Lots of underbrush.

February 7, 2015 - First bottle since May, 2013. This has continued to develop and appears to have finally emerged from its "in between" phase. Not quite as powerful on the nose as before, but the palate has really blossomed into something quite exquisite. Pretty aromas of crushed dark berries, flowers, earth and spice. Full-bodied, elegant and smooth as silk. The delicious plum and boysenberry fruit has faded noticeably, but secondary flavors have become much more prominent - especially on the finish. This is so perfectly balanced now and the tannins are beautifully integrated. The polished finish just goes on and on, with gorgeous notes of black licorice and mineral that linger for almost a full minute. So delicious, elegant and complex. Syrah does not get much better than this - even in the Northern Rhone.

July 28, 2013 - For me, this is becoming less interesting. Rich, ripe and plush blue/black fruits, with a prominent vanilla streak now apparent. Little of the spice or licorice that it's had in the past. Now it feels very international in style. No hurry to drink these, but I'm concerned the direction this is taking.

May 9, 2013 - Consistent with previous notes. Still drinking beautifully, though the fruit is a bit less prominent now. But makes up for it with increased emphasis on the spice, mineral and black licorice notes. Shows phenomenal balance and length. The tannins are smooth as velvet. And the nose! Still one of the best I've ever encountered. So complex and beguiling. Gorgeous aromas of ripe fruit, spice, flowers, earth and roasted meat fill the glass. Probably as good right now as it's ever going to be. 93+
