September 4, 2021 - First bottle in about five years. Pnp. Good plum color with very faint bricking. Initial overall impression is this wine highlights why the 2005 Burgundy vintage will be long lived and provide great food pairing for years to come. Aromatically this provides generous sous bois, ripe strawberry, whiffs of cut Evergreens, and old sweaters.
On the palate the tannins are fully resolved. Offers fresh strawberry, red licorice, white pepper, and a faint trace of cinnamon on the finish. The acidity provides supporting foundation without overpowering the strawberry notes. Not offering a powerful finish at this point, but a smooth and balanced effort.

August 21, 2019 - Light earthy note, but mainly cherry and red berry fruit on the nose and the palate. The first day it showed firm acidity which integrated after 2 days in the refrigerator, such that it showed it's best on day 3. I was surprised at how light the secondary aromas and flavors were: still lots of fruit forward character. Smooth tannins; a very solid food wine.

November 2, 2018 - Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
Superb bottle. A poster child for red burgundy (IMHO). Fruit present with some structure. Smooth as a baby's bottom. No need to decant, although I let it breathe for a while (30 min). Did not change appreciably through the bottle.
WA gave a 2027 end to the drinking window. I am not certain what type of improvement could occur between now and then.
I see no need to rush, but this bottle was so good, I doubt that I will wait long to drink my last.1 person found this helpful Comment -

September 4, 2017 - This has softened abit in the couple of years since I last tasted it, but still remains rather rustic and masculine with lots if earthy, dark red fruit dominating, followed by very slightly green, peppery undertones and some hints of raisiny, stewed fruit creeping into the backround. This was drinking fine after a couple of hours of double decanting, but still had a fair amount of unresolved, leathery tannins on the longish finish. While I think this still needs more time for the structure to integrate, I'm concerned that significantly more time in the bottle will result in the stewy nuances coming to the forefront, which I don't prefer, so I think I'll drink my last bottle sooner rather than later.

April 16, 2017 - Well balanced. Not very distinctive taste or fruit though.
