October 13, 2021 - We had to try this after having a lovely bottle of the Ampelon last night. We have several bottles left in the 98 vintage and 01 vintages. Decanted for 1-2 hours. A bit astringent at first, and definitely not as luscious as the Ampelon which is a Shiraz, so not comparing apples to apples but just the vineyard. This is not a premium wine but is still very nice. Was highly rated by Jeremy Oliver and if we’ll cared for, continues to be a lovely wine. Strong black cherry on this tasting along with raspberry, cassis, very fruity. Longish finish, hints of vanilla and dark fruit. I guess, from other reviews, it all depends on the provenance of the wine. The bottle we had tonight was still very nice and really didn’t show its age…
