    May 29, 2022 - 75% Cabernet Sauvignon
    20% Merlot
    5% Cabernet Franc
    5% Petit Verdot

Clear, black purple, compact rim, surprisingly youthful. Cork is healthy and clean.

Aromas are regal. Black currant, cassis, black truffle, potpourri, grilled portobello mushroom, red dirt, wet forest floor.

Palate is soft and quite lean (though not thin). Medium body, resolved but slighly dusty tannin, dry. Black cherry, blackberry, wild currant, mushroom, game meat, old leather, black olive, first flush darjeeling tea.

Classic wine at a supreme drinking window. The style shows what high class wine of yesteryear expresses itself. Ready now, though an hour in a decanter is recommended in order for the funky smell to blow off. Drink now. 93.

PN: Celebration bottle for daughter's first trip around the sun.

February 10, 2022 - Base neck fill and pristine cork; double decanted an hour before dinner. Deep garnet core with minimal bricking. Classic Margaux bouquet, with notes of dried red fruits, violets, plums, black truffle, cigar box and earth; nothing flamboyant here, very elegant and regal. Medium bodied, well balanced, with a silky texture, impressive depth, classic structure and grip, long and focused finish. A lovely wine but not meant for large tastings, as this is the antithesis of so many modern, flashy, and flamboyant Bordeaux; best savored and enjoyed with a meal.

February 8, 2022 - Initially a bouquet of cedar & pencils revealing a charming if somewhat austere structure. Fully dry and savoury, I detected a whiff of talc and brett, and the mouthfeel was more astringent than tannic indicating the fruit was fading. Still charming and well balanced, but not as good as the reputation that preceded it despite the poor vintage reviews. CHP 90pts

December 24, 2021 - needs a few hour decant; special occasion wine--I enjoyed it, but no more than the 2011 Quintessa the same evening--and at 3-4X the proce of the Quintessa--it was the better value. Not faulting the CM, just that prices have become insane....

December 20, 2021 - Amazing nose - classic claret. Tannin big, dusty on first taste (which became less apparent with time/ over 3-5 hours in decanter). On p fruit leans toward light red, sweet cigar box, but some tomato leaf/vegetable (perhaps a sign of an average, possibly wet year). Reminded me of St Julien in some ways. It lacked some energy and complexity. Nice/good but inferior to ‘95 drank alongside. And sadly I expected more than just ‘nice/good’… difficult to reconcile with the other recent tasting notes below.
