February 11, 2021 - Dark fruit core, deeply spiced, marinated gamey meat notes, dried herbs, great freshness and elegance in this medium-bodied Southern Belle.

January 18, 2020 - A blend of Mourvèdre (90%) and Grenache (10%). Fermented spontaneously while macerating on the skins for three weeks. Aged in oak casks for 20 months. 13% alcohol.
Luminous, quite translucent and somewhat developed pomegranate red color. Somewhat restrained, dry and slightly earthy nose with layered aromas of licorice, some red-toned lingonberry-driven berry tones, a little bit of forest floor, light smoky tones of soot and campfire, a sweet hint of ripe blackberry and a touch of boysenberry. The wine is moderately full-bodied, textural and lively on the palate with complex, somewhat developed flavors of stony minerality, some plummy tones, a little bit of licorice root, light notes of gamey meat, a hint of salty liquorice and a sweeter touch of juicy strawberry. Noticeably high in acidity for a Bandol with firm yet rather modest and quite resolved tannins that slowly pile up on the gums. The finish is long, savory and gently grippy with layered flavors of licorice, savory dark fruits, a little bit of earthy spice, light gamey tones, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of ripe forest fruits.
A 20-yo Bandol in a wonderful phase. The wine doesn't feel particularly old or tertiary yet, but the wine has started to feel somewhat developed and the tannins have resolved beautifully with the age. Drinking remarkably well right now, but might continue to evolve for some years now. Peaking now or soon. Good value at 48,50€.2 people found this helpful Comment -

December 30, 2019 - Yesss...
Right in the middle of its drinking window..!
This is a gorgeous glass of comfort-wine perfect to serve next to a humble plate of comfort food.
Dried herbs and dark forestfruit on a peppery savoury gamey mushroomey foundation.
Terrific.2 people found this helpful Comment -

March 3, 2019 - The Winefield's pre-sale tasting (Auction location: Kamerlingh Onnesstraat 22, Amsterdam): Lovely colour, a gentle, soft bouquet with a friendly whiff of nutmeg, juicy and with a polished finish; drink now.

December 15, 2018 - 13% alcohol. Mourvèdre 90%, Grenache 10%. Very dense cork of average length; no wine penetration at all. Poured two glasses 30mn ahead to provide a modicum of air exposure.
Medium colour, slightly muddy. Some thinning at the edge, and just a bit of browning. The nose has a rustic aspect (not in an unpleasant way) as well as notes of maturity in the form of caramel; similar in the mouth, with good acidity and a slightly fragile feel.
Did not stand up to the coriander in the "pommes paillasson", and only a tolerable match with beef rib; better afterwards.
Probably not a repeat purchase.
