January 20, 2018 - Decanted for 3 hours before re-bottling for trip to restaurant. Color was deep ruby and starting to show just a bit of browning. Nose was fragrant, floral and enticing. One of those where you want to just enjoy the aromas for a long time before taking that first drink. The palate did not disappoint. Extremely smooth, with the fruit still very present. It does then move aside and the terroir comes through the mid palate and the finish.

October 21, 2017 - Tasted blind as part of a Pinot Tasting event.

Clear deep garnet in color. Aromatic aromas with barnyard funk showing as the dominant. Medium/Full bodied, and the acid having smoothed. It showed excellent balance with a moderate flavor intensity. Very nice finish is the 5-7 second range.

April 15, 2017 - Served with Fried Pork Belly with Blueberry Gastrique and Braised Collard Greens as the fourth course on a 7 course tasting menu. The group judged each wine first by itself, then again assessing how it paired with the food.

The Wine – Decanted for four hours prior to serving. Initial nose showed leather, tobacco, very earthy. By time it was served, these had given way to hyacinth, licorice and some black fruits. Great mouth feel and showing a lot of complexity. Medium bodied with long slow legs in the glass. Hands down the WOTN.

The Pairing – In addition to being the best wine of the night, it also yielded the best pairing. The wine had enough acid to cut through the fattiness of the pork-belly. It also really brought out the fruit in thee gastrique. Almost not fair to the other wines as this would likely have been the best pairing for most of the courses. Pairing Grade – A+.

January 1, 2015 - As the previous taster noted, this is indeed in wonderful shape. Compared to the Vosne Romanee Les Suchot of the same vintage and producer opened a few weeks ago, this bottle showed significantly better. I hesitate, however, to recommend further cellaring, in light of broader '03 longevity concerns, but also seen as the wine is likely at its peak now. A lovely fruit dominated nose was present the whole time it was open (4-5 hours). No decant, as it was in good shape right off the bat. A little funkiness, i.e., mushroom and tobacco, melded with leather, graphite, cinnamon and spice, and a hint of iron which combined seamlessly with red fruit notes, i.e., strawberry and raspberry. If I didn't know any better, I may have guessed CdP, had it not been for that tell-tale Burgundy funkiness on the nose. In the mouth, it is lush, round, and full-bodied, featuring sweet red fruit flavors (i.e., licorice, spice infused cherry), and well integrated oak. The finish is good and long, but not especially complex or noteworthy. The wine stayed in good shape the whole time, though at the 4-hour mark is lost a bit of complexity. I say drink up!

September 29, 2013 - This is really fantastic right now, still going strong at age 10. bay laurel, quinine, cocoa, strawberry pulp, dried leaves, and leather. Man this is good. Am I allowed to love a 2003 Burgundy?
