    February 22, 2024 - Very lightly corked.

September 24, 2023 - 3.5 hour decant. Loads of sediment. Came out of bottle fully secondary - all earthy notes, macerated/cooked fruit and French oak. Time in decanted significantly freshened up the fruit to reveal wild raspberry, youthful acidity and the oak integrated pleasantly. Wine is well structured and demands to be paired with food (rabbit ragu in this instance). Really started singing at hour 5 1/2 - aromatics became ultra floral and fresh and palate followed suit. The wines won't be improving, but it should continue to hold steady for at least 5 more years. Give it time in the decanter!

March 1, 2023 - This bottle showed pretty well, right out of the gate. Fairly rich compared to the Roagna Rosso, with some light earthiness. I think I have two bottles left, that I won't rush to drink, but I don't think there is anything to be gained by holding them any longer either.

  • Outplaying Likes this wine:

January 1, 2022 - This bottle needed a couple hours of air to show its best. When first opened, there was a fair amount of dank and earthy funk. Ann asked if it was flawed. Most of that funkiness eventually blew off leaving mushroom and leather and orange rind. This put on weight as it opened and the fruit was fairly concentrated and ripe. For what was a hot year, this wine still has quite a bit of acidity. We both enjoyed this with grilled T-bone steaks.

December 30, 2021 - December 30, 2021. Gift from Warren August, 2012. Drank from Bin south 4 with Aline, Emma and Cory. Cork and oak nose. Medium purple color with touch of brown. Dry presentation then acid with soft oak. Fruit gone, past prime. 2/10.
