Community Tasting Notes 5

January 13, 2012 - I was surprised by the op's 70 score, but decided to go for this anyway. The wine is clearly past its prime. The taste progresses from major sweetness, to alcohol, then bitterness. Avoid.

November 15, 2010 - Nez sur la poire et une pointe d'ananas. Plutôt austère pour un gewurztraminer. Beaucoup d'acidité, mais manque de matière et de longueur.

Assez long en bouche. Légèrement acide

February 19, 2010 - Wow. Someone gave this a 70. Remember when you got 70 in English in high school. That essay pretty much sucked. Like, barely intelligible. I'm not saying this wine is going to win a nobel prize for literature, but at the very least it's a satisfying novella with a great surprise ending that you wouldn't hesitate to recommend to your friend to take to the beach.

Pale straw colour (yes "coloUr" - it's a Canadian wine some I'm going to spell "colour" in the correct Canadian fashion). Pear and a little citrus - maybe grapefruit, on the nose with just a touch of grassiness. In the lower end of the midrange on acidity. OK midpalate, and could use a bit more body but shines on the home stretch. There is this nice slightly bitter lingering grapefruit that that works for me. So to sum up, not stellar but decent and for me certainly not a 70 pointer. Better than the Prosecco that I payed about the same amount of money for but nowhere near the Red Rooster Gewürz that's in the same price range.

October 28, 2009 - the Globe in your Glass (Pan Pacific Hotel): Water thin nose showed promise but nothing on the taste
