April 2, 2022 - Still hanging in there. Smoky, nutty, honeyed, layered...starting to fall out of integration for my tastes but there is a lot of pleasure left.

November 28, 2017 - Terroir-istes International - France, Loire, Domaine Huet (The Fat Butcher, Stellenbosch): (Tasted Blind): A deep gold/amber colour. Lifted aromas of smoke, struck match, fireworks, and gunpowder dominate.
The entry is similar, with the struck match and firework reduction taking precedence and making it difficult to explore further. Off-dry with racy acidity, there are hints of wet bandages, creamed honey and dry wool, yet it lacks complexity given its age and seems to have fallen into the abyss. Reduction overload.

November 19, 2017 - Flat and disjointed upon opening, but with a couple hours of air this blossomed into something really nice. Deep golden color, honeyed fruit, bitter melon, and bracing acidity. This has only the essence of demi-sec sweetness, and age has given this real depth. Texture is oily. Very interesting wine and pretty tasty too.

June 26, 2016 - Quite a nice showing. Deep golden color. It smells rich. The palate is Honeyed and wooly and expansive, but it's buffered with a lively streak of acidity that keeps things from feeling flabby. A terrific match with Mapo tofu and chili oil dumplings.

October 13, 2008 - Visit to Domaine Huet: The nose was pure spruce.
    Fascinating, a wine for contemplation.
