January 1, 2012 - Popped and poured. Reddish-brown color, quite cloudy. Fair amount of lightening at the rim. Unbelievably vibrant, beautiful, and complex nose. Still has a lot of fruit, all of it dark, both red and black. Sous bois and a clear sense of animale also mark the nose. In the mouth, it still has a lot of sweetness, far more than I was expecting, and a rich, unctuous texture. The wine's still bright acidity keeps it well structured and as a result the very smooth and almost syrupy texture does not seem flabby. Incredibly long finish. This wine is still full of life - and everything you hope an aged burgundy will be. Glorious.
