Community Tasting Notes 8

July 23, 2017 - Beautifully matured. Still lovey fresh dark berries but with earth andbspice and a bit of leather coming through

September 10, 2014 - Somehow, inexplicably meh: thin, lacking both body and aroma except some off notes of sulphur. Will chalk it up to a bad bottle. Two more left.

June 9, 2012 - Decanted 2 hours and consumed over 8; showed at its best between in the 2 -4 hour window. Displays some trace elements of the beauty that it once was; but alas, seems very tired. Only fair+ concentration left on the nose, but did still show off some ripe blackberry and some typical Cristom-type earthiness. Still, very nice acidic balance; which reinforces my theory that the’98 is a great vintage that is now getting towards the end of its peak life. What was once probably a 92 has sadly now become an 89. Drink now.

October 25, 2009 - A lovely bouquet, medium bodied, smooth as glass....

January 25, 2009 - 1998 for Oregon was one of my favorite vintages and it is amazing to see it now, at its peak. This bottle was gorgeous. Mellow balanced burgundian leaning with yummy Oregon fruit still very present.
